The Strokes are far and away my favorite band. I think the Strokes have an eclectic and storied discography that leaves room for countless listens. I chose their first album, "Is This It", because it's an album I still haven't gotten tired of for years and years of listening. I have this album on vinyl, and it would be a dream to see them play in person someday. I could have chosen any Strokes album, but "Is This It", is it. Favorite songs include, "Someday", "Hard to Explain", and "The Modern Age".
If I'm looking to relax, I'm putting this on.
An ambitious debut album by Wunderhorse, a British Rock outfit.; Highly recommend.
A new, creative & experimental album from Toro y Moi.
Modern Zeppelin
A book I think everyone should read. Van Der Kolk provides anecdotes of his experience as a Psychologist, as well as tools and resources for those dealing with traumatic stressors. "The Body Keeps The Score" in the sense that our bodies deal with trauma in ways we may have never thought of previously.
A book I was introduced to while taking a Philosophy course at Purdue. Notes from Underground is a novella about a man entirely consumed by his own thoughts, rejecting society and what it stands for. Dostoevsky makes the case that a utopian society that leaves no room for pain and suffering might actually do society a disservice in the sense that there is nothing to overcome and learn from.
A classic movie that you have probably seen on everyone's top movie rankings. It's simply hard to not like this movie.
The best Batman movie by far, and it might just be because of The Joker.
